Penalties for first time driving with a suspended license.?

In california, I was pulled over for not having plates on my motorcycle and that resulted in my bike gettin impounded because i had a suspended license. i was 3 weeks away from retaining my license at that moment. I went to court and was given a penalty of 1400 dollars and 3 years of probation for driving with a suspended license. I pleaded not guilty and am going back to court in 30 days. My license has been reinstated and Im curious as to if that fine and probabation is correct with my particular case and can i fight for a lower penalty?
