What are the fundamentals and musts to know about boxing?

okay im not gonna lie, dont know crap about boxing, but my girlfriends dad runs a gym in southern california and he's like this rambo, boxing buff and i wanna impress him, my gf knows very little and i wanna show her dad that i can keep up with him, any magazines, editorials, fights, or info i should know. thanks, wikipedia, and boxrec dont help much. boxing history, info, legends, memories, you know the whole frenzy and legacy surrounding baseball!, what about boxing!
